This is one of the series of photographs allegedly showing Spitfires in combat with German bombers at the time of the Battle of Britain. This and several other photographs of the series were published in the German press. The photos, invariably featuring Spitfires with spurious markings, have actually been arranged for the propaganda purposes using a captured Spitfire Mk. I. [Der Adler]
