Sqn/Ldr R.M. Milne, 92 Squadron, in the cockpit of his Spitfire Mk. V, Digby, 2 December 1941. At the time the squadron was non-operational, indulging in preparation for transfer to the Mediterranean.
Sqn/Ldr Milne made himself famous by shooting down three Bf 109 and damaging a fourth during a single mission on 12 October 1941.
Note that unlike initial production Spitfires Mk. V, Milne’s aircraft features internal armoured windscreen.[Crown Copyright]
