Contrary to what may be common supposition, aircraft companies continued to fund advertising in flight periodicals throughout the war, despite the fact that their entire production could be expected to by procured by their governments for as long as the conflict lasted. Even more curiously, the companies continued to advertise abroad: for example, Heinkel advertisements ceased to appear in Flight magazine only some time after the Battle of Britain!
