This painting is the tribute to F/Lt Bernardo Noel De Larminat and all WWII pilots from Argentina. De Larminat took part in total of 341 missions between 1942 and 1945. He claimed 3 destroyed enemy aircraft and damaged further two.
In 1943 Bernardo De Larminat served with No. 417 Fighter Squadron RCAF. On 25th January 1944 on patrol over Anzio, the Spitfire formation was bounced by three mixed formations of Bf 109 and Fw 190 of SKG/10. De Larminat dived and attacked the first enemy formation. After the attack, one of the Bf 109s escaped down to the sea-level with visible glycol leak. A few seconds later, De Larminat was himself bounced by a Fw 190 but after a short combat he managed to shoot down his opponent. It was a big day for De Larminat with one enemy aircraft destroyed and one damaged.
