This painting by Czech aviation artist Vladimir Urbanek shows MOESI ILLIR, a Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VB, BL581, “RY-T”, No. 313 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron RAF. The aircraft was was bought and presented to the RAF by Dutch East/India Society, nece its rather unusual name.

This painting is the tribute to Flight Lieutenant Karel Vykoukal and his service in RAF during the WWII. Vykoukal was one of the Czechoslovak pilots in the Battle of Britain, serving in No.310, 25, 111, 73, 17 and 313 Squadrons. In 1942, he was posted to No.41 Squadron as a Flight commander, but went missing in action in May 1942. His war score was 1 confirmed shared victory.
