Building this Pacific Coast Models kit 32005 Spitfire Mk. IXC some four months ago, I used the Spitfire Site as a reference. It has been an excellent help for me and I hope that it will be kept in a good shape! I will also continue making Spitfires in 1/32 scale. I have the Hasegawa Mk. VB and PCM Mk. IXE (kit no. 32006) on my shelf. And Tamiya’s new Mk. IX is a bueaty..maybe I’ll buy that one too.

This is my fourth model (and the second Spitfire) since I returned to modelling in 2007. My older models date from 1978… then beer, punk and girls got a higher priority :o)

I am happy with my results with the Pacific Coast kit. It took some time and it was rether challenging. I have also made some minor additions – handle and the emergency lock for the canopy, crowbar in the cockpit door.

This was my first two-colour camouflage model painted with an airbrush. I used Valejo paints for this and appied some weathering using Mig filters and pigments, Tamiya pigments, acrylics, pencils…you name it.

It was a pleasure project: reasonably challenging for that satisfying feeling.

I really like your model very nice paint finish! I am going to make a wooden carving of a Spitefire but need some decent size drawings. The outline is most important not the detail. I think the size of the wing span should be about 15″ but l guess l can enlarge or reduce on a photocopy machine. Can you help in any way?
