Anatomy of the Spitfire Cockpit

View of the area behind the pilot’s seat and the fixed rear glazing of the canopy, looking forwards towards fuselage frame no. 12. Visible to the right is the mounting rack for the radio and the 24V battery underneath. To the left are the two large pressure air containers driving the pneumatic system operating the flaps, guns, brakes and landing lamps. The containers were filled in by means of an engine-driven air compressor.

Note also the cables for the rudder (in outer positions) and elevator (in the middle).
