Dust has barely settled after last month’s unfortunate Spitfire crash in Norway when, sadly, news arrived yesterday about another tragic flight accident involving a vintage aircraft. This time the location was Lillinghof airfield located 30 km south of Nuremberg, Germany, where local airshow was held during the weekend.
Around 5,000 people were attending the event on Sunday, when, for unknown reason, a pilot lost control of a de Havilland Tiger Moth biplane during takeoff. The aircraft skid from the runway and crashed into a group of spectators. A 46-year-old woman died on the spot, probably hit by the propeller. Local police reported that five other people were seriously injured. The 68-year-old pilot of the aircraft escaped unhurt.
