The Hawker Hurricane Mk. II BE421, which is the role model for the nearest depicted aircraft, served with No. 174 Squadron as XP-G. No.174 was formed at Manston in March 1942, taking over seventeen Hurricanes and eight pilots from No.607, which enabled the new unit to commence combat operations immediately.
