Philosophy Football is a UK web company offering a range of design T-shirts with a meaning. The designs are aesthetically pleasing and cover a tremendous variety of subjects, ranging from sports to political, literary and history subjects. Browsing through their entire collection I was surprised to see things as esoteric as, for example, a tee made of actual markings of a D-Day Hawker Typhoon!
Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the company has released a number of RAF-related designs in their 2010 collection. One of the tees celebrates the word ‘Spitfire’ – which, as they say, will always be synonymous with the Battle of Britain’s defence of freedom. The design also features the RAF roundel of the time as a background.
The BoB series also includes other T-shirts with various colours and designs. One design is composed from a list of key fighter stations involved in the Battle of Britain. Another features a Polish Air Force checkerboard and names of all Polish aircrew fatalities during the Battle.
There is also a Hurricane T-Shirt with the immortal “So much owed by so many to so few.” printed on its sleeve. And finally – “The Few” T-shirt, with a RAF roundel composed of the names of all 544 RAF airmen who sacrificed their lives during the Battle.
I think that Philosophy Football should be commended for these highly unique designs, which appear to be well-tailored to the taste of an aviation history buff, and (perhaps also for this very reason) are not very likely to be found elsewhere. Good job!
Philosophy Football’s T-shirts are available in sizes small (36 inch chest/90cms), medium (40 inch/100cms), large (44inch /110cms), X-large (48 inch/120cms) and XX-large (52 inch/130cms).
