The Spitfire Mk. 26, 80% metal replica of the famous Spitfire, is being manufactured by a Texas-based company which provides it in kit form, to be powered by a V6 or V8-engine. The product, cleverly called Spitfire Mk. 26, has gained some fame in the aviation circles. Here is a short video demonstrating one of the aircraft in flight, which should give a good idea about its looks and performance.

Unlike the full-size fighter, the Mk 26 has all the characteristics of a lightweight aircraft, but its grace in the air reminds very much about the original. In this unmistakable wartime camouflage and flying over the English countryside… I’d say I want one!
