IPMS UK Scale Modelworld 2009

Scale Modelworld, once called IPMS UK Nationals, not only ranks as the UK's prime modelling event, but also as the largest independent modelling show on the face of this planet. I have been a keen visitor of the show since 1995, and enjoyed it immensely every time. There is the friendly atmosphere, an opportunity to meet a great many people interested in modelling art, military history, aircraft, possibility to browse among the thousands of books, magazines, kits gathered in the trade area; each of these qualities would alone suffice as a reason for visiting the show. For more impressions from this year's event, see my previous blog article here.

The modelling display and competition is absolutely World-class. Many foreign participants make their way to the UK for this occasion, including modellers from Portugal, Spain, France, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Malta, the Czech Republic, Australia, Italy, USA, Greece and all the other countries which are too many to mention here.

Here are some personal highlights from this year's modelling competition in the aircraft classes. You will see that the level of modelling and painting skills displayed in aircraft classes is sometimes simply amazing!
